Hey there,

Two weeks ago a domain investor told me my Domain Operator pack was getting something badly wrong.

He sells names at six and seven figures.

He'd run the buyer finder without giving it an asking price, just to see what number it would come up with on its own.

It came back low.

Not a bit low. A fraction of what the name is actually worth.

Because it had done the obvious thing, the thing most tools do: looked up comparable sales and priced off those.

Those comps are wholesale. Domainer to domainer. What one investor pays another to take a name off their hands.

What a company pays to put that name on its front door is a completely different market.

He puts the gap at around 20x.

Anchor your ask to the wrong market and you quote a fraction of what you own.

That fix shipped the same day. Every comp is now labelled wholesale or retail, and an end user ask never gets built from a wholesale number without showing its working.

Then he kept going.

It was drafting outreach to companies holding live trademarks on the term, which is the email that shows up later as an exhibit when they take the name off you instead of buying it. Fixed.

It was recommending companies whose own websites no longer resolved. Fixed.

It was calling a rebrand an upgrade. Fixed.

Eight versions in two weeks. None of them my ideas.

That is the whole argument for owning a worker instead of renting an agency. When someone who does the job for real tells you it is wrong, you change the file that afternoon and every future run is better.

An agency just sends the same report again next month.

Domain Operator. $89 once. Five workers, updates free forever.

Own the work. Don't do it.

Richard

PS. If you already own it, all eight fixes are already in your folder. Reinstall the plugin over the old one and you have them.
