Hey there 👋,
Next month I start paying a poker coach $750 an hour.
He's a high stakes pro, one of the best in the game, and that rate is what it costs to have someone like that find the leaks in how I play. I'm not sharing this to flex the spend. I'm sharing it because his hourly has been living in my head, and it reframed a business decision I made this week.
$750 an hour is the highest hourly rate I know. It also took him twenty years, elite talent, and survival at stakes that end most bankrolls. You cannot copy his seat. It's not for sale.
The second highest hourly I know is for sale, and this is the issue where I sell it to you.
Some background. WhyNot.Bot is my AI agency. It builds websites and installs AI workers for UK local businesses.

I set up AI workers for a print company that has thousands of quotes sent over the years and no follow-up system beyond memory. I did the install live in one session: a worker that chases every unanswered estimate at day 3, 7 and 14, and one that finds customers who went quiet a year ago and drafts the check-in. The owner reads the drafts with his morning coffee and sends the ones he likes.
I've rebuilt local business websites using Claude Code and set them up on their own Netlify hosting, as I didn't want the ongoing retainer lol. And I've done enough work with charities to remember why I quit the sector in my 20s.
I've made five figures doing this, and even though the hourly is currently far higher than my poker, I'm going to focus on the latter instead.
But for anyone else, the one-person AI agency playbook has been built…
First Packs, Now Playbooks
There are now 6 Operator Packs on Redundant, and an Everything Bundle which includes all future packs:

And now I’m building out Playbooks, which are about building something and come with lifetime Skool community access to support the transformation.
The first one is the AI Agency Playbook: everything I did, minus me.

Eight worker skills that configure themselves to any business through a first-run interview: six you install for clients, two that win you the clients, including a growth report that turns a prospect into a branded, scored teardown of their own online presence, honest revenue math shown, sent cold as the ice breaker.
Two site builder skills: one stands up your agency's website in an afternoon, one generates the client sites you sell at $750. Every site is generated original, so yours never looks like a template farm.
And The Install Playbook, the step by step guide: the pricing menu, the qualifying question that sorts real prospects from tyre kickers, the client getting channels in effectiveness order, the full 90-minute install session agenda exactly as I delivered it to a paying client, the website build flow, what not to do, and your first 30 days week by week. One install a week at $999 is a $50k a year side business at a few hours a week. A couple of website builds a month stack another $18k on top, and each one opens the door to a full install.
So why am I paying to get better at poker instead of scaling the agency?
Position. I'm 46, I've had my exits, and my income comes from both poker and a portfolio I spent fifteen years building. An agency, even a lucrative one, is a job you own. If I'm going to sell hours, I'd rather sell them at the poker table, where nobody reschedules and nothing runs on Outlook. The coaching is me investing in the game I actually chose. That's not a verdict on the agency model. That's a man with options picking his seat, then paying to play it better.
Now flip the position. If I were starting over, no exits, no portfolio, no poker skills, income needed inside 90 days, the agency is what I'd do, ahead of anything else I write about. Not build an audience, not launch a SaaS, not learn to code. Find one local business that sends quotes by email and never chases them. There are more of those within ten minutes of you than you could ever serve.
The AI Agency Playbook is $299 and includes lifetime membership of the $29/m Redundant Skool community. Sell one starter install and it's paid for itself three times over.
The agency playbook is the first of many. I’m currently building out The Redundant Playbook for anyone with a job who is concerned about being made redundant due to AI. The free Redundancy Audit product is live and being claimed, just like a lot of my subscribers claimed the free Business Appraiser skill last issue.
I’m now seeing how I can grow the Redundant brand 10x bigger than I first thought with the initial packs. It’s the coolest thing I’ve ever worked on.
Cheers!
Richard
P.S. even though most of you said you loved the idea but wouldn’t wear it, the Redundant watch is still going to happen…!
